Lefteris Bournias

Lefteris Bournias has been a clarinetist since the age of 11. While in Greece, Lefteris was fortunate to live near a famous gypsy clarinetist, Mr. Vasilis Soukas, and he soon frequented his house for lessons while attending the Athens Conservatory of Music under the guidance of clarinetist Mr. Farandatos. Upon returning to New York with his family, Lefteris began attending the Aaron Copeland School of Music earning a B.A. in Performance, a Masters of Science in Music Education, and attempted a P.H.D in Ethnomusicology (still pending!). Lefteris has performed and recorded with many highly acclaimed singers and musicians amongst them Makis Hristodoulopoulos, Stelios Dionissiou, Peggy Zina, Pitsa Papadopoulou, Doukissa, The New York Pops, Takis Zaharatos, Lambis Livieratos, Hristos Antoniadis, Stathis Aggelopoulos, Eleni Legaki, Nikos Hatzopoulos, En hordes, Uri Cane, Charles Genus, Steve Haas, Elektra Ensemble, Nikos and Giasemi Saragoudas, Spiros Exaras Band, Georgos Kinousis and many more. As a diverse musician, his style combines traditional Greek, Gypsy, Classical, Turkish Gypsy, and elements of Jazz (rhythmical and harmonic).
He plays with such soulful fire and intensity which makes his sound undeniably unique, and makes him one of the most sought after clarinetists in New York City.
